The Brief
Sledge was briefed to produce the Royal Mail Chairman’s Awards for Excellence for the third year running in June 2007. The aim of the event was to recognise and celebrate the positive contribution that Royal Mail employees had made to their customers, colleagues and local community. As part of the event, Sledge Film and Video was asked to create event opener and event closer videos, nomination packages and video links incorporating the overall theme of Cirque du Soleil-meets-Cabaret.
The Solution
Sledge Film and Video used a high energy, people-based approach to produce a series of uplifting, passionate and aspirational videos. The clips aimed to include as many employee faces as possible as well as a mixture of interviews, bloopers and cut-to-music sequences, all of which were linked by animation in-keeping with the theme of the day, such as the 3 star logo used to brand the event. Through these videos, Sledge was able to portray the sheer scope and variety of the projects undertaken by Royal Mail employees. Closing with an on-site edit, Sledge Film and Video created a sequence that culminated in a retrospective of the day’s events and was eventually formatted into a DVD package that was given to staff as a souvenir of the day.
The Results
The integrated body of video content contributed to a hugely enjoyable and successful day. Employees felt proud to be a part of the Royal Mail and feedback indicated that 94% of guests gave the event 8 or more out of 10.
